Still, it's much better drawn than the Captain America comic book covers from the 1940s where he's pictured beating the crap out of Nazis and the Imperial Japanese while saving his pedophilic fantasy "Bucky" from having his fingers/nutsack/whatever chopped off in a dungeon full of stereotypical slant-eyed bucktoothed interrogators. I'm surprised that they don't have comics like that today during the comparatively unpopular War in Iraq.

It's because the war is unpopular that we don't have these comic books. This stuff tends to reflect sentiment - take the portrayal of the USSR during the cold war. In Superman Returns the editor says "does he still stand for truth, justice - all that stuff?" No mention of the American way. If Captain America were to be shown doing anything propagandist, I think it much more likely that he'd be pictured holding a tattered US flag looking sad.
